  • First Nations parents and caregivers.
  • Service providers working with families.

About the resource:

The “Why Play? with Your Baby for First Nations Parents and Caregivers” pamphlet suggests science-based and culturally-appropriate play activities for babies. First Nations parents and caregivers can use these activities to help their baby learn to trust, develop a healthy brain, learn to explore, and learn to communicate.

About the series:

The “Why Play? for First Nations Parents and Caregivers” series suggest play activities for First Nations children in the following age groups: babies (0 – 1 year), toddlers (1 – 2.5 years), and preschoolers (2.5 – 5 years). The series is based on the content of the Encyclopedia on Early Childhood Development and was created in partnership with the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health. All partners are thankful for the valued contributions of the First Nations parents and family support practitioners who reviewed the series.
