The Why Play? for First Nations Parents and Caregivers series suggest play activities for First Nations children in the following age groups: babies (0 – 1 year), toddlers (1 – 2.5 years), and preschoolers (2.5 – 5 years). The series is based on the content of the Encyclopedia on Early Childhood Development and was created in partnership with the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health. All partners are thankful for the valued contributions of the First Nations parents and family support practitioners who reviewed the series.
About the pamphlet
The Babies (0 – 1 year) pamphlet suggests science-based and culturally-appropriate play activities. First Nations parents and caregivers can use these activities to support their baby’s play, help their baby feel safe, support their baby’s healthy brain development, and build a strong relationship with their baby.
