At Families Canada, we recognize that the life experiences and skills of older adults are worth sharing. Older adults can be a volunteer resource, especially for young children who could benefit from more focused adult attention than family circumstances perhaps allow. The activities included in our ‘Bringing Together Seniors and Children in the Community’ intergenerational resource kit are designed for family support practitioners to help reduce the social isolation of seniors, help the development of young children and create opportunities for intergenerational bonding.
